St John’s makes for an excellent rehearsal and recording space

Improvisation

‘It’s a brilliant space – lovely to make music here’.

‘So much to see!’

St John’s felt privileged to host a rehearsal session on Friday 12th January for a  group of professional musicians to use the space to work on further developing and enhancing their improvisation techniques, and to do some recording and filming of their work,

Led by the St John’s Organ Project Animateur, Neil Valentine, the musicians used acoustic, electronic, and digital instruments and technology,  and workshopped together to explore individual and group dynamics and collaborative  musicianship around their improvised approach. They then filmed and made a demo recording of their work.

“Beautiful space, stunning architecture which was so inspiring for our rehearsal!

“ Perfect for our rehearsal.  Great acoustics”

Beautiful building with great acoustics and a lot of character.  The chandelier is gothic (which is nice) and woodwork all gorgeous!

“Thanks for having us!”
