Creative Music Project - Blog progress report (5 March 2024)
Further to the update from Organ Project Animateur, Neil Valentine – on his work with pupils at Preston Candover Primary School to develop, write and perform their own unique song, inspired by their visit to St John’s Church Northington, the following is his update on progress made at his session with the pupils.
Tuesday 5 March 2024 - Preston Candover Primary School
This week we were joined by pianist, musical director and all-round super star Adam Blosse to start bringing our final performance together.
I am delighted Adam was able to attend as I’ve worked with him for many years and I knew his enthusiasm, skill and pianistic ability would inspire and engage the group.
We began by meeting and then listening to Adam showcase how he approaches the piano. It was inspirational! Then after some warmup games and vocal warmups we got into the song.
I am really pleased with how our song This Place has gone on a real journey. From its early beginnings in St John’s, creating our chorus ‘This Place is Calm, this place is quiet’ it has grown to become not just an allegory for the way the students feel about Preston Candover Primary, but also how we feel about being in such a wide world.
Excited for next week now!
